Welcome to Sin Cabeza (Headless in Spanish) this site features art works by Grant Bates.

I have over 8 years experience in design - My venture into graphic design and multimedia based applications began back in 2000 where I commenced studies in animation with Moreton TAFE (Tertiary and Further Education) college in Brisbane. From animation I went on to complete studies in digital art, then I obtained the Diploma of Multimedia at the end of 2002.

In 2003 I started my own business Flame Shoes Media (no longer promoted - the work is very old on there now) in which I attracted business through my own advertising and word of mouth and ended up quite a success. During 2003 I worked as a contracted Flash animator for the Australian Defence Force's "Technical Training Facility" and worked on an educational CD ROM the contract lasted nearly 6 months. During this time also I did an entire branding package for a band called the Temple Godz which was one of my very first clients, they are now defunct. (see Flame Shoes Media).

At the end of 2004 I held another contract position with Ice Media a multimedia firm in Brisbane where I worked on animations for another CD ROM project for the Australian Football Leagues' "Auskick" for Kids while on my summer break from University. In 2004 I also commenced further studies in the Bachelor of Multimedia to expand and enhance my knowledge base for my business. I majored in design but withdrew in the 2nd year as I wasn't entirely happy with the subjects and teaching so I enrolled into the Design degree (2006) which I am yet to finish but have deferred my last 4 subjects.

My interests have always been towards Heavy Metal music, subcultures, horror films and macabre art. My main goal is to design predominantly for bands or anyone in need of 'darker' art - book covers - posters - Tshirts etc.
